Mthombeni Primary is a school situated in Baphehli area ± 8.8 km outside Amanzimtoti Central. It was founded around 1943. Initially Church services and school classes were held under the tree. This tree ‘Umthombo” was transplanted and it flourished. “Umthombo” is a fountain that does not perish. The school was named Mthombeni which to the local community signifies a fountain of knowledge and education that will never be destroyed. The school has grades R to 7, with the capacity to take on 764 learners.
